Australian vehicles which are less than 25 years old; more specifically Holden VE/VF utes and wagons along with other specific late-model Australian cars, can be legally imported through a unique and specialised legal process due to the them having Australian-built, USA domestic market counterparts available in the USA when they new. These USA counterparts are the Pontiac GTO & G8, Chevy Caprice PPV and Chevy SS.

We offer a flexible import service that allows us to legally deliver a complete, road-ready RHD Holden Ute straight to your door, or alternatively, a rolling shell ideal for a left-hand-drive conversion or custom build project. Every sub-25-year-old vehicle we import includes a PPSR document, Australian title, bill of sale and proof of ownership. For added convenience, we can also arrange a US court-issued import title on your behalf. Please note: this typically adds 5 weeks or more to post-arrival processing and incurs an additional fee.

Vehicles Over 25 Years:

Vehicles built more than 25 years ago, like a 2000 Holden VU Commodore SS Ute or the 2000 HSV Maloo R8 pictured above, are now eligible for import under the 25-Year Rule and we’ve streamlined every aspect of the import process for you. 

First, leverage our local connections and request inspection of any vehicle listing you find online (Marketplace, Gumtree, Carsales) where we can then verify condition in person and handle cash payments to sellers to minimise risk of scams. Once the sale is secured, we’ll then move the vehicle to our Melbourne warehouse, where we prepare all necessary documentation like the Australian bill of sale, registration information, PPSR vehicle-history report, and all US import paperwork, including the HS-7 declaration form. Your vehicle is then shipped to our Indianapolis warehouse, with integrated live online tracking so you can follow your ute every step of the way. After arrival, you can collect it in Indianapolis or, for an additional fee, we can arrange onward transport to your door. Once the car has finally arrived at your door, all you will simply have to do is the supplied import paperwork to your local DMV and apply for an import title and registration (state requirements can vary slightly)

TIP: Keep in mind the 25-Year Rule is based on the build date, not the model year, and with shipping taking around 48 days, vehicles just a few months shy of 25 years at purchase will likely qualify upon arrival.

So when browsing for your next import. Make sure to ask sellers for pictures of the build plate or ID plate and be sure to note the month it was built.
